MT180: doctoral
students journey to the final

Close to 70 doctoral students from Université Paris-Saclay have just signed up for the French ‘Three Minutes Thesis’ contest! Coming from 12 higher education and research institutes*, they met on February 16th for their first training session. The session, run by Alexia Youknovsky Benichou, contributed to bringing together young researchers working on varied topics such as augmented reality, corporate social responsibility (CSR), nanomedicine or climatology.

Who are the members of the jury and what are their evaluation criteria? What are the best practices to implement for a successful presentation? How to differentiate yourself in a very selective contest? This training course addresses some of the main questions the applicants ask themselves.

From now on, their objective is to finalise their 3-minute pitch: only the best 15 applicants will be selected to carry on the adventure. After an additional training day at the end of March, they will compete against each other during the Paris-Saclay final on April the 7th. This evening event will determine the doctoral student who will represent the University in the national final of the MT180 contest in June.
